Whitby v Washington 19/09/09

Whitby – 68
Washington – 0

Another hot Saturday afternoon for Whitby this week, but with the confidence flowing high from the previous week Whitby felt they had it in them to be the victor and notch another win on the league table. Whitby started at an expeditious pace to try and shuffle the opposition around the park early in an attempt to wear them out.

This policy paid off as Whitby ran in 2 swift tries coming from the 2 wingers Latus and Parkin.

Whitby’s forwards were operating well and gained good yards by presenting good quality ball at the back of the rucks. A mazy run from the number 8 Harrison saw him go over the line to prove to Whitby young guns that he has still got it what it takes. It wasn’t long before more tries came, 2 from Roberts and another Straker special going through the Washington defence like a hot spoon through ice cream.

The second half was pretty similar but Whitby were giving away too many simple penalties, these were mistakes that did not need to be made, and with an obvious cheat saw the prop Young go to the bin for 10 minutes. Whitby regrouped and knuckled down to play the basic rugby which wins games. Additional tries came from the Scrum half Stentiford, Pindar and another from Parkin after tracking down a long kick.

Another good presentation from Whitby but we need to sort out our impractical mistakes, giving away too many penalties, this will cost us against better teams so lets get it sorted early and keep pushing on.

M.O.M – Harry Pindar - Excellent work rate on his last game for Whitby and was quite impressive with his drinking skills after only taken him 3 years to learn.
