Whitby Under 16 Rugby     Sunday 25th October

Whitby travelled to Middlesborough in confident mood and everyone was excepting a competive game. No-one was disappointed as the game started at 100mph and it didnt take long for Alex Taylor to score Whitby's first try,however, Middlesborough replied almost immediately breaking down Whitby's right-handside and scoring a converted try.

But the Whitby forwards soon started to boss the game gaining valuable ball for the backs to run at the Middlesborough defence and it didnt take them long to find the defensive cracks and the Whitby team scored several more tries in the half without any reply from Middlesborough. Jack Reeves scoring twice Alex Taylor scored his second try of the game and Steven Cuthbert, Sam Webster and Connor Clennan also added tries to the Whitby total along with 3 conversions by Sam Webster.

The second half continued in much the same way the forwards carrying the ball allowing the backs plenty of space to put together  some fantastic moves the whole team were playing some glorious rugby and Middlesborough only managed to enter the Whitby half on rare occasions. Credit must be give to Middlesborough who stuck to their task and forced Whitby to keep playing. During the second half Alex Taylor scored his third try of the game and Steven Cuthbert his second, Dom Hill also added a try to the score sheet and Sam Webster a further 3 Conversions.

This was an excellent display of the champagne rugby which the Whitby team have been able to attain in recent seasons.
