Rumour has it Whitby has a new sprint king????? With record try scorer Ollie Roberts only managing one try this season from 8 games, Pete Stentiford, currently on 10 trys from 7 league games, had his go on saturday at Seaham.
Intercepting on his own 5 yard line and racing off like a snail up the pitch, he was at one point 20 yards clear of anybody on the pitch, but somehow got caught ony inches from the line!!
Next, supposedly chubby winger Danny Dossor broke through a gap on the Whitby 10 yard line and raced through to score his second of the season.
Then came 'Steam Train' Dave Straker who scored directly from a Seaham kick off, closely followed by 'Mad Man' Joe Quinn, who dived like a swan after flying down the touchline for his 5th of the season.
But surely the best was saved till last, as 'Im the Best' James Gildroy raced through in the dying minutes from a full 25yards out!!! The Prop Forward dashing past would be tacklers to take 1st prise in the Whitby Sprint Championships!!!
Some great stuff on saturday lads, lets keep it up next week and keep playing like we can!!!!
Well done G1LDY, your 3rd of the season, Ollies 36 try record could be yours!!!!

Even more astounding are the incredible feats being displayed by the old aged pensioners of the second team, who,my sources tell me, are scoring more tries now than they ever did in their youth. Surely some of the more elderly gentlemen should be taking life a little more easily?

On behalf of the second team I would point out we are not pensioners, just highly experienced players.

Thank you Danny, i am proud and honoured to recieve first prize in the sprinting championships, please may i say a few words:Let no one sneer at the bruisers of Whitby - What were the gladiators of Rome or the bull fighters of Spain, compared to Whitbys bruisers?

I hear it on good authority that Ollie, rather than been fleet of foot, jinking through to score numerous tries, is making a conscious effort to put on enough weight to join the happy bunch of fellows in the forwards. Seen training with them rather than the backs ( obviously not the 1st team forwards as they were notable by their absence) for a few weeks, trying to drink more than a half pint to everbody elses 2 pints (hasn't quite succeeded on that one yet) and as has been obvious for the whole of this season scoring NO BLOODY tries!! leaving it to Stenti "sidestep" Stentiford and Dan "teflon" Dosser to keep the numbers up!
The man obviously needs help and I would recommend a twice weekly dose of the pyramid of death (on his own of course to show him the folly of his ways) and would expect the club coach to instigate this.
What he doesn't realise, of course, is that he wouldn't get in the 1st team forwards so with that extra weight would be immediately put in the 2nd team backs where he will never see the ball again as it never gets past some ball greedy but 7 tries so far in 4 games old fart of a number 10
