What was the score on Saturday? A friend of mine from Northallerton has told me that their thirds beat Whitby 1sts by putting over 40 points on them. This is surely not true as I recall Whitby playing their 1sts earlier in the season and drawing? Furthermore, the third team was a genuine third team with no ringers.

Ric

let me be the first to bite on your post, yes we did get beaten by N'allerton 3rds, just to put the record straight it was an A game, however most were first teamers due to a lack of respons from anyone else, on that I have to congradulate Straker junior on a great game, as a last minute drag in due to lack of numbers he had a very good game, scored a try, was aware all game, even took a quick throw in, all in all everything that could have been expected from a regular player.

The team experianced its first tast of south sea island rugby in the form of a bunch of army Fijians, two in particlar who play for the full army side and one with links to the combined services, it was an object lesson in how to run with the ball (in the palm of one hand most of the time), side step, jink, power through weak tackles or offload in the tackle, and generaly take advantage of any mistakes (speedster who could stop, step or change direction in an instant) or exploit broken play, then to lose mick latus with about 15 to go, on the plus side we scored plenty of try's of our own, just not enough, dissapointing to lose but still prefer that to anything else on a Saturday afternoon, no excuses Ric, we lost, by the way where were you?

In training for my retiremet match.
I just wondered what the score was as my mate said Northallerton 1xv won a league game away on the 16th 18-15 at Leeds Corinthians,he only said that the Fijian Army lads have only played a handful of 1st games due to reliabillity,and theY played on the opposite pitch when Whitby drew there earlier on in the season?.
Sorry, the post wasnt ment to receive the said "bite",just curious.
Good luck at sunny Seaton Carew.

dear Ric

havent had chance to say much this week. Northallerton 3rds, apart from a couple of white men would give any team of ours a run for their money. They had 10 fijians all from catterick garrison, played with style, speed and with no socks.

You in the second team have them again March 8th please be available to play and see these south sea islanders run rings around you. That if they are not posted by then. Their number 8 was class, ask Steve Allen.

Stenny

The seconds are at home this week, please could you do the match report for the gazette!!

I only asked the score,because i was having a couple of beers with a mate of mine,who was a past captain at Northallerton,and he said their 3rds had beat Whitby 1xv.Then a few of you have become very defensive.
Seems you had bad luck with teams playing ringers,or paying players, this season.Richmond we won,Hartlepool,Nothallerton.Its what happens when teams earmark Whitby for the clubs night out and usually bring their strongest squad of the year,(longest away trip}
Oh and just a thaught to a previous post if 2 of the Fijians had played for the full army side,and 1 other the combined services what on earth are they doing langushing in North 3rds.
Better to lose gracefully,than to be bitter in defeat.
Good luck for the rest of the season,that i truely mean.
Sorry not in Whitby at the weekend,so not able to do your match report,but will do any teams if required and im there to watch.
